Sweta Balaji

Research Specialist

Sweta recently graduated with her B.S. in Quantitative Biosciences and Biological Anthropology from Emory. Sweta is passionate about data analysis and the use of epidemiology to study and improve the outcomes of historically underserved communities. Sweta is leading a systematic review of health disparities in drug-resistant bacterial infections.

Addi Deisher

MPH in Global Health (May 2026)

Addi is a first year MPH student working on our project in Nairobi, Kenya which aims to characterize the spread of antimicrobial-resistant microbial populations that contaminate chickens sold in open-air markets as well as the guts of healthy community members. Her research interests revolve around all things infectious diseases with particular interests in emerging/re-emerging and neglected diseases.

Anne Marie Dye

MPH in Environmental Health and Epidemiology (May 2025)

Anne Marie is a second-year MPH student conducting her ILE on the intersections of foodborne disease and climate change. She currently serves as the Secretary of Emory Students for One Health and is primarily interested in disease ecology, climate change, WASH, and One Health.

Natalie Olson

PhD candidate in Environmental Health

Natalie is conducting metagenomic analyses on chicken fecal samples from Maputo, Mozambique to identify risk factors for antibiotic resistant bacteria and compare microbiome diversity & composition between chickens and children in this community. She is primarily interested in the eco-epidemiology of zoonotic spillover at the wildlife/livestock/human interface.

Madison Schwab

PhD candidate in Population Biology, Ecology, and Evolution

Madison is benchmarking strain tracking tools to assess strain sharing between chickens and young children in peri-urban Lima, Peru. She is especially interested in the population-level transmission dynamics of microbes and ecological drivers of zoonotic spillover events. She also enjoys hiking, swimming, and playing fetch with her dog.

Courntey Victor

Postdoctoral Fellow

Courtney earned her MPH in Global Environmental Health (2019) and PhD in Environmental Health Sciences (2024) from Emory University. Her research interests are in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), enteric disease, the gut microbiome, and child health. Courtney is working on our project in Nairobi, Kenya which aims to characterize the spread of antimicrobial-resistant microbial populations that contaminate chickens sold in open-air markets as well as the guts of healthy community members.
